Jhansi (UP), July 6: In a remarkable display of quick thinking and medical expertise, a young Army doctor successfully performed an emergency delivery on a railway platform using only a hair clip and a pocket knife.
The dramatic incident unfolded at Jhansi station on Saturday afternoon after a pregnant woman traveling on the Panvel-Gorakhpur Express went into severe labour. As her condition worsened, railway staff immediately deboarded her and called for help.
With no medical kit on hand, the Army doctor stepped in, improvising with the limited resources available. Using a hair clip and a pocket knife, he ensured the safe delivery of a baby girl—leaving onlookers stunned and the grateful parents overcome with emotion.
North Central Railway’s Jhansi Division PRO, Manoj Kumar Singh, confirmed the incident and praised the doctor’s presence of mind, saying, “It was an extraordinary act of service and humanity.”
