Ganjam, Dec 20: In a rare & adventurous  pick, the snake helpline team recovered a giant King Cobra from the Shiv temple campus in Ganjam on Saturday.

The wild snake was rescued from the Gupteswar at Choudhury Tikarapada area under Digapahandi block after the servitors anticipated a serious threat for the devotees.

According to reports, a local spotted a king cobra on the campus and informed it to the servitors

Following this, the Snake Helpline was called for to capture and relocate the reptile from the compound.

Snake Helpline members Ramchandra Sahu and his team reached the spot inciated a coordinated rescue operation to pick the ferocious reptile. After an hour long effort, the snake was captured into a sack. Ultimately, it was safely released in the nearby forest.

The operation attracted a massive crowd from the nearby area while the forest official reached the scene to ensure safe release of the wildlife.

​​​​​​​The operation was too riskful as the snake was over 11-feet long. However, with utmost care it was captured with difficulty and released in a new habitat, said Ramachandra who led the rescue operation.
