Nayagarh, Feb 24: A bandh was observed today in Nayagarh Sadar Mahakuma in support of the long-standing demand for the establishment of a medical college in the region. The bandh was called by the Jai Nayagarh Foundation, and the decision was made to close all shops and markets in the city. However, vehicle movement remains unaffected to ensure students can attend their exams without disruption.

For many years, various organizations have been demanding the setting up of a medical college in Nayagarh. In response, the government recently announced the establishment of a homeopathic medical college in the area as part of the budgetary provisions. While the government’s decision has been accepted by the public, many people in Nayagarh continue to call for a full-fledged medical college instead.

During today's bandh, all shops and markets in the city were closed, while transportation continued to operate normally. The protestors have warned that intensified protests will follow if their demands are not addressed promptly by the government.
