Delhi, August 12: While the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on eradicating stray-dog problems has put denizens and animal lovers on a crossword, the Apex Court has extended its vigil to to the Court Campus.
A day after directing Delhi-NCR authorities to permanently relocate all stray dogs, to prevent rabies, , the Supreme Court has issued a significant directive aimed at improving cleanliness and safety within court premises.
In its order, the Apex Court mandated that all leftover food items must be disposed of exclusively in properly covered trash bins in order to keep strays at bay from it.
The decision comes after repeated reports of stray dogs roaming freely in and around court complexes, often attracted by improperly discarded and disposed of food items.
Under the new directive, all court canteens, vendors, and staff are asked to ensuring that waste food is placed in covered bins that are regularly emptied.
Apart from it, local municipal bodies are directed to maintaining strict waste management protocols within court premises failure of which will lead to penalties or other disciplinary actions.
