Mumbai, Dec 7: Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been arrested by the Rajasthan Police in coordination with the Mumbai Police in connection with an alleged ₹30 crore fraud case.

He was taken into custody from the Yaari Road area of Mumbai, reportedly at his sister-in-law’s residence.

The FIR, lodged at the Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur, Rajasthan, states that Dr. Ajay Murdia accused Bhatt and his team of persuading him to invest over ₹30 crore in a film project.

According to the complaint, they allegedly promised returns of up to ₹200 crore. The project was described as a biographical film meant to commemorate Dr. Murdia’s late wife.

Though Bhatt had denied the allegations nearly 20 days ago, the joint operation by Rajasthan and Mumbai Police has now resulted in his arrest. Following this, Rajasthan Police is expected to seek transit remand from the Bandra Court to transport him to Udaipur.

The arrest comes a week after Udaipur Police issued a lookout notice for Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, and six others named in the case.

Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF Hospital, had hoped the film would serve as a heartfelt tribute to his late wife.
