Angul, Jan 20: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Angul police arrested two individuals and seized 28 grams of brown sugar along with cash worth ₹24.05 lakh from a residence in Hatisalapada, under the Angul Town Police Station limits, on Monday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Manash Nayak, a resident of Sakosingha village, and Rajesh Sahoo, a resident of Kumanda village. Acting on reliable intelligence regarding the storage of brown sugar at a house in Hatisalapada, a special squad, along with Angul police, raided the residence under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, Angul.

During the raid, authorities recovered 28 grams of brown sugar and a substantial amount of ₹24,05,315 in cash. Both suspects were taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover the source and supply network of the illegal drug.

"The source of the brown sugar is currently under investigation. These arrests are part of our continuous efforts to combat drug trafficking in the district," said Ramakanta Mahalik, Angul SDPO.

Authorities have assured that the investigation will continue, with a focus on dismantling the larger drug trade network in the area.
