Bhubaneswar, December 16: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) organised a “Parcel Business: Key Customers' Meeting with the objective of strengthening stakeholder engagement and enhancing Ease of Doing Business in the parcel sector and assured the stakeholders of early solution of their issues, said an official release.

According to an ECoR communique, ECoR Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM) Rita Raj chaired the meeting, attended by senior officers from Headquarters and Divisions. Key parcel customers participated in the interactive session, which aimed at briefing them on various policy initiatives and obtaining feedback for further improvement of parcel services.

“During the meeting, customers were apprised of the salient features of several important initiatives of Indian Railways, including e-Auction of parcel space, Parcel Cargo Express Trains, Indented Parcel Trains, Deemed VP, incentives for empty direction loading, and various digital initiatives introduced to enhance transparency, efficiency and service delivery,” it said.

Key customers actively participated in the discussions and shared valuable suggestions. Several operational issues related to the parcel business, such as NOC for leasing of VP, stacking of parcels at platforms, enhancement of stoppage time of select trains, and other customer concerns, were discussed in detail.

“Stakeholders were assured that necessary action would be taken for early resolution of their issues. It was also indicated that such key customer meetings will be organised at regular intervals to further enhance parcel loading potential and to address stakeholder concerns in a timely manner,” it stated.
