Bhubaneswar, March 29: At a time when the residents of Kotia group of villages in Koraput district on the Andhra-Odisha border, are being sensitized by the admin on exercising their voting rights, parallel electoral preparedness here by the Andhra Pradesh government has resulted a sheer confusion for the voters.
The Odisha government has almost decided to set up as many as 9 polling booths for 5502 voters inhabiting under the Kotia Gram Panchayat limit. On the other hand,the Andhra Pradesh Admin is readying at least 5 booths in the locality on the same day. Andhra officials led by the Manyam district Collector Nishant Kumar are reviewing the arrangements here in the grass root level where at least 2554 voters from the 21 bordering villages will vote for the Andhra-based candidates fielded by the YSR, BJP and TDP parties.
Sources said that, among other Andhra sponsored nominees, the YSR has fielded Bidika Rajan who had also contested here in the last election whereas the BJP, TDP and Jana Sena parties have consensually fielded a woman candidate, Gumudi Sandharani to represent from the Odisha’s Kotia group of villages.
The simultaneous general election in Odisha’s Koraput district is going to be held on May 13. Accordingly, the inhabitants of Kotia group of villages are all set to exercise their franchise in favour of their suitable candidates. The dist admin is harnessing all possible efforts to scale up the best people’s participation in the electoral festivity. However, the neighboring Andhra Pradesh’s quasi poll exercise in the Kotia group of villages on the same day and time, resulting confusion among the voters.
