Puri, Jul 4: The fifth day of the sacred Anasara Darshan of Lord Alarnath witnessed a steady stream of devotees despite persistent rain triggered by a low-pressure system.
Following the ceremonial Snana Purnima ritual, during which Lord Jagannath and the sibling deities were bathed with 108 pots of scented water, the deities are believed to have fallen ill. During this Anasara period, the deities remain away from public view inside the Srimandir while undergoing traditional healing rituals performed by the Daita servitors.
As devotees are unable to have darshan of Lord Jagannath during Anasara, they visit the Alarnath Temple at Brahmagiri to offer prayers to the four-armed form of Lord Narayan, who bears the conch, discus, mace and lotus.
At the Alarnath Temple, the doors of the shrine were opened at 4:00 am on Saturday, followed by Mangala Alati at 4:15 am. After the completion of Tadapalagi, Abakasha, Besha and Gopal Ballav rituals, public darshan commenced at 6:15 am.
Continuous rainfall since Friday night due to the prevailing low-pressure system affected the flow of devotees to some extent. However, undeterred by the weather, large numbers of devotees continued to visit the shrine, expressing happiness after receiving the sacred darshan of Lord Alarnath.
