Bhubaneswar, February 9: Gajapati district Police have detained a minor boy in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor Tibetan girl.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Monday when the survivor’s parents were away attending a family function. Investigators confirmed that CCTV footage capturing the crime is being reviewed as part of the inquiry.

The girl’s family lodged a formal complaint at Mohana police station, following which a case was registered and the accused taken into custody for questioning. Gajapati Superintendent of Police Jatin Panda stated that the accused will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board after medical procedures are completed. He added that the investigation is ongoing and further details will be shared once available.

The case has sparked anger among residents, who are demanding strict action. Police noted that subsequent steps will depend on the medical examination report.
