New Delhi, November 17: Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level meeting in the national capital to review the ongoing security challenges in Manipur. With rising tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities resulting in violence and loss of lives, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has intensified efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.

Sources reveal that Shah, after returning to Delhi, postponed a scheduled visit to Vidarbha, where he was to attend rallies ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, to focus on the crisis in Manipur. A detailed review meeting is planned for Monday, signaling the government’s proactive approach to addressing the fragile situation.

The MHA, in a statement, urged the public to maintain peace and avoid falling prey to rumors, emphasizing strict action against those engaging in violence or disruptive activities. Key cases related to the conflict have been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for thorough investigation.

Adding to these measures, CRPF Director General Anish Dayal Singh reached Manipur on Sunday to assess the ground situation firsthand. Singh's visit aims to coordinate with local security forces and explore strategies to de-escalate tensions. The CRPF continues to play a pivotal role in maintaining order amid the volatile conditions.

These developments underscore the central government’s commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety of affected communities in the troubled northeastern state.
