Kinshasa [Congo], May 25: An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue during a visit to the Indian Embassy in Kinshasa, Congo, on Sunday.
The delegation, which arrived in Congo on Saturday, includes several prominent parliamentarians: BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Atul Garg, IUML MP E.T. Mohammed Basheer, BJD MP Sasmit Patra, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, BJP leader S.S. Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.
In a post on X, the Indian Embassy in Congo wrote:
"A warm welcome to the All-Party Indian Parliamentary delegation, led by @DrSEShinde, to the DR Congo. Delegation is carrying India's strong message against terrorism to the world! Ambassador V. Venkataraman received the delegation."
The visit to Congo follows the delegation’s earlier stop in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of Operation Sindoor, a global diplomatic outreach initiative in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. During their UAE leg, the delegation reinforced India’s commitment to international cooperation against terrorism.
In a separate post, the Indian Embassy in the UAE stated:
"The All-party delegation led by Shinde successfully concludes its highly productive visit to the UAE, further strengthening India-UAE cooperation in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."
The core objective of the delegation’s tour is to brief international partners on India's comprehensive response to the Pahalgam terror attack and its broader efforts to combat cross-border terrorism.
On May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK). Following effective countermeasures against Pakistani aggression, both countries agreed to a cessation of hostilities on May 10. ( With Agency Input)
