Boudh, May 11: An Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) , Sabita Pradhan from Baunsuni Health Centre, faces suspension after her alleged involvement in a political rally, as reported by the District Election Officer.
In response to Pradhan's purported violation of the model code of conduct set forth by the Election Commission of India, J Sonal, the District Election Officer, promptly issued a suspension order against her.
The basis for this disciplinary action stems from both the Election Commission of India's directive dated March 15, 2024, and the Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules 1959. These regulations expressly forbid government employees from affiliating with political or communal organizations engaged in political or communal activities. Furthermore, they are prohibited from participating or supporting any political movements or activities.
Reports said that Sabita Pradhan attended a rally organized by a political entity, a fact that was brought to light when photos and videos of her presence at the rally circulated widely. Upon becoming aware of the situation, the District Election Officer instructed the District Health Officer to conduct an investigation and submit a comprehensive report.
Following the investigation, which substantiated the allegations against Pradhan, the Boudh District Collector took decisive disciplinary action against her.
