New Delhi, Dec 12: With the IndiGo crisis deepens, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday sacked four flight inspectors for delinquency in duty.

According to the DGCA, they allegedly oversaw safety and operational compliance of IndiGo.

The problem stemmed when IndiGo cancelled thousands of flights this month after failing to plan for tighter safety regulations, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded across the country.

Acting on it the aviation regulator has deployed two teams at the IndiGo office in Gurugram to audit various operations, including crew utilisation and refunds.

As a measure towards crisis management, IndiGo issued an apology and temporarily cut around 10% of its flights to stabilize operations. The government has provided a temporary exemption on some FDTL rules until February 2026 to help manage the situation, though this drew criticism from pilot unions for potentially compromising safety for commercial interests. However, the airline expects normal operations to return within the next few days.
