Bhubaneswar, Feb 7: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday launched the economic development roadmap for the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradeep Economic Region (BCPPER) under the state government’s Growth Hub initiative, marking a major step towards integrated regional development in Odisha.

“Under the Growth Hub initiative, the BCPPER economic plan for the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradeep Economic Region has been launched. Essential infrastructure is being created for Greater Bhubaneswar. We are working with a strong focus on ring roads, new city development, semiconductor hubs, data centres and related projects. The double-engine government is firmly committed to realising the vision of a ‘Prosperous Odisha’ by 2036 and a ‘Developed India’ by 2047,” said the Chief Minister while addressing dignitaries at a special programme held at the Convention Centre of Lok Seva Bhawan here.

The BCPPER has been envisioned as the core growth engine to drive Viksit Odisha by 2047, aligning with India’s national objective of becoming a developed country by that year. The comprehensive plan provides a clear and future-oriented roadmap focused on port-led industrialisation, advanced manufacturing, tourism and cultural circuits, innovation and technology hubs, and climate-resilient urban development.

Chief Minister Majhi said the region would be developed through an integrated economic framework connecting Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Paradeep.

He emphasised that holistic infrastructure development is the state government’s primary goal in building a prosperous Odisha.

Prepared with the support of NITI Aayog, the BCPPER plan is expected to usher in a new era for Odisha’s infrastructure and economic landscape. The roadmap includes more than 80 strategic projects and over 30 policy interventions aimed at unlocking large-scale investments, generating high-value employment, boosting exports, and positioning Odisha as a global trade and logistics gateway for eastern India.

The Chief Minister said the initiative would also focus on transforming the region into world-class hubs for tourism, heritage, industry and logistics through a series of technical sessions and stakeholder consultations. Key infrastructure priorities for Greater Bhubaneswar include the development of ring roads, new city clusters, semiconductor hubs, data centres and other critical facilities to support future-ready growth.
