Bhubaneswar, November 19: Odisha Police have significantly ramped up efforts under Operation Thunder, intensifying their crackdown on criminals and antisocial elements across the state’s Central Range, said Dr. Satyajit Naik, DIG, Central Range.

On Tuesday, November 18, as part of ongoing operations in seven districts—Cuttack, Kendrapara, Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Jajpur, and Jagatsinghpur—the police conducted vehicle checks, inspecting 1,986 vehicles. The authorities imposed fines totaling ₹13,23,836, with Khordha district recording the highest fine amount of ₹7,74,636, Dr. Naik confirmed.

In addition, during the nakachecks on Monday, November 17, authorities collected a total of ₹4,66,500 in fines for traffic violations and safety infractions across the Central Range.

Police have been maintaining round-the-clock vigilance with ongoing blockades and vehicle checks in a strategic effort to track down hardened criminals, seize illicit drugs, dismantle illegal arms networks, combat unauthorized cattle transportation, and conduct random motor vehicle inspections.

The intensified nakachecks in Cuttack, Kendrapara, Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Jajpur, and Jagatsinghpur continue to focus on curbing illegal activities and ensuring law enforcement, as highlighted by DIG Dr. Naik.

"Operation Thunder remains active across the Central Range, intending to ensure public safety, preventing criminal activity, and maintaining law and order," Dr. Naik added.
