New Delhi, June 22: An Air India flight from Birmingham to New Delhi was diverted to Riyadh on Saturday after receiving a bomb threat. The airline confirmed that the aircraft landed safely in Saudi Arabia and underwent thorough security checks.
"Flight AI114 from Birmingham to Delhi on June 21 received a bomb threat and was consequently diverted to Riyadh, where it landed safely and completed security checks," an Air India spokesperson said on Sunday.
Authorities later confirmed that all inspections were completed, and no threat was found.
In a separate incident, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Patna was temporarily diverted to Varanasi due to adverse weather conditions. The airline reported that Flight IX1014, operating on June 21, resumed its journey once weather conditions improved and landed safely in Patna.
"Due to adverse weather conditions, one of our flights to Patna was diverted briefly to Varanasi. When the weather improved, the flight resumed and landed in Patna. We regret the delay caused by circumstances beyond our control," a spokesperson said.
Additionally, on Friday, Air India cancelled several international and domestic flights citing increased aircraft maintenance checks, poor weather, and airspace restrictions.
