Air India cancels two International flights due to Typhoon Ragasa's impact in Hong Kong

New Delhi, September 23: Air India has announced the cancellation of two international flights scheduled for this week, following an adverse weather forecast due to Typhoon Ragasa in Hong Kong. The affected flights include AI314, which was set to depart from Delhi to Hong Kong today, and AI315, scheduled to return from Hong Kong to Delhi on Wednesday.

In an official statement, Air India confirmed the cancellations, stating: "Flight AI314 (Delhi-Hong Kong, 23 Sept) and AI315 (Hong Kong-Delhi, 24 Sept) stand cancelled due to the adverse weather forecast from Typhoon Ragasa in Hong Kong."

The airline has assured passengers that they will be offered a full refund or a one-time complimentary rescheduling of their flight within the same class. "We regret the inconvenience caused by this situation beyond our control. Operations to and from Hong Kong will resume once conditions permit safe flying," the statement added.

For passenger assistance, Air India has provided the following contact numbers: 011-69329333 or 011-69329999, available 24/7. The airline emphasized that the safety of its passengers remains its highest priority.

In related news, Hong Kong International Airport has suspended all passenger flights for 36 hours, beginning at 8 p.m. (1200 GMT) on September 23 until 8 a.m. on September 25, due to Super Typhoon Ragasa, according to a statement from Qantas Airways, as reported by Reuters.

Additionally, Air India has revealed plans to launch commercial flights from the newly opened Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), operated by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. This initiative, part of Air India's efforts to enhance both domestic and international connectivity, aligns with the nation's goal of becoming the world's third-largest air passenger market by 2030.

In the initial phase of operations at NMIA, Air India's low-cost carrier, Air India Express, will operate 20 daily departures, connecting 15 Indian cities. By mid-2026, the airline plans to scale up operations to 55 daily departures, including up to five international flights from NMIA.
