Bhubaneswar, Mar 11: The Commissionerate Police has arrested a man from the State Capital City for allegedly defrauding Rs 14 lakh by promising government jobs.

The accused, identified as Bulu Gouda from Ganjam district, was apprehended following a complaint filed by Sushant Kumar Padhee. According to Padhee, he was introduced to Gouda in 2024, who promised to secure government jobs for Padhee's wife and her younger sister. Gouda convinced Padhee to pay him large sums of money, which he transferred through bank accounts and UPI transactions.

In addition to the payments, Gouda took the original certificates of Padhee’s wife and sister, assuring them that they would receive official appointment letters for government positions. However, instead of delivering the promised letters, Gouda began blackmailing the victims, demanding even more money in exchange for returning the certificates.

After the victims filed a complaint with the Capital Police Station, the Commissionerate Police arrested Gouda for his fraudulent activities.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
