Digapahandi, Dec 13: A tragic incident unfolded in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Saturday morning, as a Class Vii student collapsed on his way to school and later died, raising serious concerns among local residents. The student, identified as Akash Gouda, was a student at Radhamohan Vidyapitha in the Digapahandi block.

According to reports, Akash had left his home early that morning to attend school. However, he collapsed on the road before reaching his school in Nimakhandi Pentha. Local residents found the unconscious boy lying on the roadside and immediately alerted his family. With the help of locals, the family rushed him to a nearby medical facility, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Sources indicate that Akash had been unwell for the past two to three days and had reportedly been suffering from a fever. His family mentioned that his condition had shown signs of improvement, and he had been encouraged to attend school. However, the unexpected collapse occurred before he could reach his school, leaving the community in shock.

The incident has sparked concern in the local area, with residents questioning the circumstances surrounding the student's sudden death. There is widespread speculation about the student’s health before the collapse, and many locals are calling for a detailed investigation by the health department to determine the exact cause of his illness and death.

In addition, the community has expressed concern about the financial burden the family may face in the wake of the tragedy. There have been calls for compensation for the bereaved family and support for the child's grieving relatives during this difficult time.

At the time of writing, there was no official statement available from the attending doctors regarding whether Akash was already deceased when brought to the hospital or if he passed away during treatment.

The local authorities have initiated inquiries into the incident, and more information is expected as the investigation progresses.
