New Delhi, May 19: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday underscored the urgent need to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) education to school students starting this year. He called upon educators and academic experts to design AI-integrated, age-appropriate textbooks to ensure young learners are future-ready.
Speaking at the launch event of 'Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camps' and 13 new language primers developed by the Central Institute of Indian Languages, along with special modules created by NCERT, Pradhan stressed the transformative power of AI in the education sector.
“AI is rapidly gaining ground across the globe. From this academic year, we must make a concerted effort to bring AI education to Indian schoolchildren,” Pradhan said. “I appeal to educationists to create textbooks that are not only suitable for different age groups but also embedded with AI content. We need an exponential leap in our approach, not just incremental changes.”
He further highlighted the importance of integrating technologies like AI and machine learning (ML) with Indian languages, stating that doing so would act as a “force multiplier” in India’s educational journey.
