Ahmedabad, June 22: A restaurant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, was sealed after a diner discovered a dead rat in a bowl of sambar. The incident occurred at Devi Dosa restaurant in the Nikol area of Ahmedabad, a just day after a decomposed frog was found in a packet of chips purchased from a shop in Jamnagar.

Reports indicate that the restaurant owner, Alpesh Kevadiya, did not take immediate action following the incident, leading to the matter being escalated to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) health department.

In response to the complaint, AMC officials inspected the restaurant's kitchen, found it open and unsafe, and subsequently sealed the establishment. A notice was issued to Kevadiya, instructing him to address the hygiene issues immediately to avoid further repercussions.

In a related incident, Vidit Varshney, a social media user, claimed that his uncle and aunt found a dead cockroach in the food served on the Vande Bharat Express from Bhopal to Agra on June 18. The Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) promptly responded to the complaint raised on the microblogging platform X, imposing a "suitable" penalty on the service providers and intensifying their monitoring of production and logistics.
