Forces Corner More Terrorists in 'Operation Akhal'

Following the recent success of 'Operation Mahadev', Indian security forces have launched a new anti-terror operation, codenamed 'Operation Akhal', in Jammu and Kashmir. In an ongoing gunfight in the Kulgam district, one terrorist has been killed, and two others are currently trapped and surrounded by a tight cordon. This operation is a direct continuation of the effort to dismantle the terror module responsible for the recent deadly attack in Pahalgam.

A Coordinated and Swift Operation

The encounter began on Friday morning in the Akhal forest area after joint forces of the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police acted on specific intelligence inputs regarding terrorist movements in the region. During a search operation, the security team came under fire from the hidden militants, triggering a fierce gunfight. The terrorists are believed to be affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Officials suspect the terrorists are using the dense forests of the Dachigam National Park near Srinagar as a hideout, making the operation particularly challenging. Security forces have sealed off all entry and exit points to the area and are engaged in a sustained effort to neutralize the trapped militants.

Closing the Net

This operation is a direct follow-up to 'Operation Mahadev' earlier in the week, which resulted in the elimination of three Pakistani TRF terrorists. Among them was the key conspirator and mastermind of the Pahalgam attack, Suleiman Shah, also known as Musa Fauji. A large cache of arms, including 17 grenades, a US-made M4 carbine, and two AK-47 rifles, was recovered from their hideout. According to intelligence inputs, the terror cell consisted of five active members. With three neutralized in the previous operation and one killed today in 'Operation Akhal', security forces believe only one member of this specific module remains at large. The relentless pressure from these back-to-back operations demonstrates a clear strategy to hunt down and eliminate every individual involved in the Pahalgam massacre.
