Bhubaneswar: In an extraordinary display of courage, determination, and human willpower, Payal Nag delivered a historic performance at the 7th National Para Archery Championship 2026, held at the NIOS Complex, Patiala, by winning a silver medal in the Ranking Round and a bronze medal in the Individual Event, proudly representing the state of Odisha.

What makes Payal’s achievement truly remarkable is that she is an archer with no limbs, having lost both her arms and legs in a severe electrocution accident during her childhood. Despite facing one of the rarest and most challenging physical conditions, Payal has emerged as possibly the only competitive para-archer in the world performing at this level without any limbs, redefining the meaning of resilience and capability in sports.

Using exceptional balance, mental focus, and unique shooting techniques developed through rigorous training, Payal competes shoulder-to-shoulder with elite para-archers, including Paralympic medalists and Arjuna Awardees. Her performance at the national championship not only earned her medals but also established her as a symbol of limitless human potential.

Speaking about Payal’s performance, Coach Kuldeep Vedwan expressed immense pride, stating that her determination, discipline, and fearless mindset make her an inspiration for athletes across the globe. He emphasized that Payal’s achievements prove that true limitations exist only in the mind, not in the body.
