Baripada, Sep 12: In a bizarre incident, a woman killed her own child by throwing him into a water body on Tuesday after a fight with her husband.

The woman has been identified as Parvati Naik of Bankidihi village under Bishoi police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

According to the information, Parvati, after a fight with husband Selei Nayak, threw her minor son into a canal in Bankidihi village. Later, she informed the villagers that she had lost her child. However, suspecting foul play, family members and villagers started a frantic search and spotted the floating body of the child .

Being informed, police reached the spot, sent the body to Rairangpur sub-divisional health centre for autopsy and started investigation into the incident.

However, the exact reason for the fight is yet to be ascertained.
