Cuttack, Sep 23: Authorities in Cuttack have sealed a factory suspected of manufacturing adulterated milk and dairy products. The factory owner has been detained for questioning.

The facility, located in Atada within Jagatpur police jurisdiction, was raided by a joint team from the Commissionerate Police and the Food Safety Department. The factory has been sealed, and samples have been confiscated for further analysis.

During the operation, officials discovered that products marketed under the 'Rohini' brand, including milk, curd, and lassi, were produced under unsanitary conditions and adulterated with harmful substances such as sodium hydroxide, salt, and contaminated water.

Police said investigators found that skimmed milk powder was mixed with regular tap water without any pasteurization, violating essential health and safety regulations.

The owner was reportedly distributing these compromised products not only in Cuttack but also in Jajpur, Puri, and Kendrapara.

The police confirmed that the seized samples would undergo laboratory testing.
