Bhubaneswar, December 2: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), a Deemed to be University under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has invited applications for admission to its Doctoral Programme (PhD) for the 2025-26 academic year.

Interested and eligible candidates can submit their completed applications till January 26, 2026.

According to the institute, full-time and part-time candidates applying with UGC NET qualification will be called for an interview directly and Part-Time Ph.D. canidates without UGC NET qualification will need to take an entrance test to be conducted by the IIMC.

The premier institute asked candidates to go through the Ph.D. prospects available at IIMC website http://iimc.gov.in while it advised the aspirants to contact the Ph.D. Admission Cell at [email protected] for any admission related query.

The IIMC has five Regional Centres across the country that cater to not just journalism courses in English - but also in the local languages. The first Regional Centre was set up at Dhenkanal, Odisha, in 1993 to cater to the demands of the eastern region.

Two regional centres were established at Amravati in Maharashtra for the Western region and at Aizawl in Mizoram for the North Eastern regions from the academic year 2011-12.

Two regional centres were set-up in Jammu to cater to the demands of North Region and at Kottayam, Kerala for the South region from the academic year 2012-13.

According to the IIMC, more than 160 research and evaluation studies have been undertaken on various areas of development and themes related to broadcasting and press policies, public health and behaviour and social change, political elections, multimedia campaigns, social justice and empowerment, non-conventional energy, out-migration, and film censorship.
