Bhubaneswar, Dec 8: Khurda Road Division has initiated a special intensive drive to curb the activities of unauthorised vendors selling food and other items at stations and on trains under its jurisdiction.

The drive aims to ensure passenger safety, hygiene and security, in strict compliance with the provisions of the Indian Railway Act.

Commercial staff has been specially deployed to detect unauthorised vending activities. Along with them, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel—who are duly authorised to take action—are also participating in the enforcement drive.

Unauthorised vending poses multiple concerns, including hygiene risks, overcharging, and potential security issues. As per the Railway Act, offenders are liable for penalties and fines.

The drive is being directly monitored by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anil Kumar S, ensuring strict and coordinated action across the Division.

Khurda Road Division urges all passengers to purchase food and other items only from authorised railway vendors and to cooperate with the teams during the ongoing checks.
