Prime Minister lauds unbeaten run and historic world title victory

It is a moment of immense pride for the nation as the Indian team has etched their names in history by clinching the title at the very first Blind Women's T20 World Cup. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight on Monday, showering praise on the squad for their resilience, discipline, and extraordinary performance.

The Women in Blue remained invincible throughout the tournament, a feat that the Prime Minister highlighted as a shining example of self-belief. In a dominant display of skill at the P Sara Oval in Colombo on Sunday, India faced off against Nepal in the final. The Indian bowlers were clinical, restricting the opposition to a total of 114/5.

The chase was nothing short of spectacular. The Indian batters made light work of the target, crossing the finish line in just 12 overs with seven wickets in hand. This victory was the crowning jewel of a flawless campaign. During the league stages, India defeated heavyweights including Australia, Sri Lanka, the USA, and Pakistan. They continued their winning streak by dismantling Australia once again in the semi-finals before overpowering Nepal in the summit clash.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi congratulated the team for their historic achievement. He emphasized that their unbeaten run in the series made the victory even more commendable. He described the win as a historic sporting milestone that exemplifies hard work and teamwork, stating that every player is a champion who will inspire future generations.

The tournament, which was co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India, saw matches played across venues in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Colombo. For those new to the format, blind cricket is played with a special white plastic ball filled with ball bearings to provide audio cues, and the Indian team has now firmly established its supremacy on the global stage.
