Cuttack, Jan 10: As a severe cold wave continues to affect Odisha, the Cuttack district administration has decided to shift Saturday morning classes to daytime hours in view of the prevailing weather conditions. The revised arrangement will come into effect from Saturday and will remain in force until further notice.
According to the decision, schools will operate from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays instead of the usual morning schedule. The move has been taken to safeguard students from the impact of the intense cold.
Earlier, the Ganjam district administration had also taken a similar step in view of the worsening cold wave situation. As per an order issued by the District Education Officer (DEO), Ganjam, early morning classes in government and government-aided schools have been discontinued on Saturdays. Instead, schools in the district are now functioning from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a decision taken to ensure the health and safety of students. The revised timing in Ganjam will remain in force until further notice.
Several parts of Odisha are currently experiencing harsh cold wave conditions, with temperatures dipping significantly over the past few days. The prolonged cold has disrupted normal life, particularly during early morning hours, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures. The administration has advised people to remain cautious, especially children and the elderly, as cold conditions are expected to persist.
