Mumbai, April 16: Ahead of the release of ‘Ground Zero’, actor Emraan Hashmi reflected on the film’s deep significance, his portrayal of a real-life Border Security Force (BSF) officer, and the emotional responsibility that came with the role. Set in Kashmir during the early 2000s, the film centers around a critical operation led by BSF officer Narendra Nath Dubey, who was instrumental in eliminating the notorious terrorist mastermind, Ghazi Baba.
In a candid conversation, Hashmi shared insights into the making of what is being described as a landmark project — the first-ever cinematic tribute dedicated solely to the BSF. "This is the first time a film has been made exclusively to honour the BSF," Hashmi noted. "While we've seen many stories focused on the Indian Army and police, Ground Zero shines a light on the bravery, resilience, and sacrifices of BSF officers. That alone makes it a milestone."
Calling the mission portrayed in the film a "defining operation" in India's national security narrative, Hashmi stressed the film’s purpose beyond just storytelling. “It’s not just entertainment — it’s about creating awareness. This mission played a vital role in protecting the country. It’s a story that must be told, and more importantly, it must be seen,” he added.
