Bhubaneswar, April 6: The people of capital city Bhubaneswar heaved a sigh of relief from the scorching sun as the city received rainfall today evening.
With rainfall activities at many places in Odisha, the temperature has come down across the state.
Malkangiri alone witnessed day temperature above 40 degrees Celsius, said the Regional Meteorological Centre.
Malkangiri recorded the highest maximum (day) temperature at 41.1 Degrees Celsius. This was followed by Phulbani (39.7), Boudh and Bhawanipatna both (39.0), Nabarangpur and Paralakhemundi both (38.8), Koraput (38.6), and Nuapada and Rayagada both (38.0).
With a trough and wind discontinuity running from interior Odisha to north Tamil Nadu, hailstorm, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over some districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, the meteorological centre said.
