A Different kind of Kheer

We all love kheer, that sweet dish made with rice and lots of sugar. But this MakhanaKheer is different. It uses jaggery, a natural sweetener, and those healthy makhanas, so you can enjoy it without feeling guilty. It's perfect for festivals like Navratri or anytime you want a yummy treat.

Here's how to make this simple and tasty dessert:

Ingredients:

  • Ghee (2 teaspoons)

  • Makhana (2 bowls) - pick the small ones

  • Milk (4 cups)

  • Ground coconut (2 tablespoons)

  • Cardamom powder (half a teaspoon)

  • A pinch of saffron

  • Nuts like almonds, raisins, pistachios, and cashews

  • Jaggery powder (add as much sweetness as you like)

How to make Makhana Kheer:

  1. First, roast the makhanas in ghee until they become golden and crunchy.

  2. Take half of the roasted makhanas and grind them into a powder.

  3. Boil the milk in a pan.

  4. Add the coconut, cardamom powder, and saffron to the milk.

  5. Mix in the jaggery powder until it melts completely.

  6. Add the makhana powder to the milk and keep stirring.

  7. Now, add the rest of the roasted makhanas for some crunch.

  8. Let it cook for about 8 minutes, stirring often, until the milk thickens a bit and the makhanas become soft. It shouldn't be as thick as the usual rice kheer.
