Bhubaneswar, March 14: With the Rajya Sabha election afoot, just more than some 48 hours, political ecosystem in Odisha warms up for irresistible exercises by democratic parties.

At a time the fifth candidate’s dramatic appearance creates a new equation in the Rajya Sabha Elections scheduled on Monday, the mysterious disappearance of one Congress MLA has put BJD and OPCC in a crossword puzzle.

According to reports, as many as 8 Congress MLAs have been lodged at Wonderla Resort in Bengaluru since a couple of days with the PCC Chief Bhakta Charan Das, leaving 6 others to participate in the Odisha Assembly Session. Meanwhile, Mohana MLA Dasarathi Gamang has vanished from the scene adding mystery to the political slugfest.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Rama Chandra Kadam reponding on the matter said Gamang remains out of sight and even not responding to phone calls.

However, Kadam expressed confidence over the legislator that he will turn up in time prettily before the Rajya Sabha poll commences.

Kadam said both the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) leadership and even the All India Congress Committee (AICC) are trying to get in touch with Gamang but in vain.

Despite the lack of communication, the party leadership has expressed confidence that Gamang will vote in favour of the Congress supported candidate Datteswar Hota in the crucial Rajya Sabha poll.

On the other hand, the ruling BJP is almost confident of its astounding victory of its two official candidates and its supported candidature as well. Opposition BJD, similarly vows its success in the upcoming Rajya Sabha election as it tries its best to secure three seats out of 4, for the Upper Chamber. Meanwhile, the Odisha Congress has been a determining factor in the forthcoming Upper House elections, proposing a third consensus candidature.

From this apart, the visible disagreements between some congress legislators have created a wider rift in the party ahead of the Rajya Sabha Election wherein the BJD and Congress opted for an alliance in a first.
