Paralakhemundi, Oct 15: In a major crackdown on illegal firecracker trade ahead of the festive season, Paralakhemundi police on Tuesday raided two shops in the Relli Sahi area and seized firecrackers worth around ₹50 lakh.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team conducted the raid and confiscated large quantities of banned and unlicensed firecrackers stored in the godowns attached to the shops. However, no arrests have been made so far in connection with the case.

Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police Jatindra Kumar Panda confirmed the seizure and said that a detailed assessment of the stock is currently underway. He further stated that legal action will be initiated against those involved in the illegal trade once the investigation is complete.

The police have intensified surveillance in the region to curb the circulation of banned firecrackers and ensure public safety during the festive period.
