Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: As many as 62 bullet motorcycles with modified silencers were seized in Bhubaneswar city on Sunday, said police.
The Commissionerate Police (CP) conducted a two-day drive in the city on Saturday and Sunday. Six enforcement teams conducted raids on various busy streets of the city to check traffic violators ahead of the festive season.
As many as 62 bullets and other high-end bikes were seized for creating deafening sounds and triggering noise pollution with modified silencers. The seized bullets were towed to the traffic police stations. Besides, the enforcement team collected fines from 13 bike owners for driving on the wrong side, police said.
Though the owners of the seized bullets reached the Traffic Police Station – I and Traffic Police Station – II with original silencers and requested to release the seized bullets imposing a Rs 1000 fine, the police turned deaf ear to their pleas.
Stringent actions will be taken against unruly bike riders ahead of the festive season. The owners of the seized bullets will have to go through legal procedures as per the Motor Vehicle Act for release, said Traffic SP Jayanta Dora.
