Mayurbhanj, January 20: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Vice Chancellor Professor Uma Kanjilal on Tuesday met Mayurbhanj Collector Hemakanta Say and held a detailed discussion on strengthening IGNOU’s presence and outreach in Mayurbhanj district.

The meeting basically highlighted the potential of IGNOU in supporting district-level initiatives related to lifelong learning, digital literacy, entrepreneurship development, and training of self-help groups (SHGs). Possibilities of conducting joint awareness programmes, training workshops, and community-oriented educational interventions was also discussed and deliberated upon.

This meeting followed the Vice Chancellor’s visit to IGNOU’s Regional Centre and Skill Centre at Rairangpur and interaction with local intellectuals, tis worthwhile to mention that she was accompanied by Ashish Kumar of Confederation of Indian Industries, Professor Nayantara Padhi, Director, Special Project Unit, IGNOU and Dr. Manoj Kumar Dash, Senior Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Rairangpur.

The visit of the Vice Chancellor underscores IGNOU’s commitment to regional development through education and skills, and reinforces collaborative efforts with district and sub-divisional administration to achieve the goal of “Education for All.”

The interactions are expected to pave the way for enhanced academic activities, improved learner services, and impactful skill development initiatives in the region under the newly established Regional Centre and Skill Center, Rairangpur.

For the context, President Droupadi Murmu on January 2 virtually inaugurated the IGNOU Regional Centre and IGNOU Skill Centre at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, marking a significant step towards strengthening education and employment opportunities in the tribal-dominated region.
