Puri, Oct 14: While frequent incidents revealing security lapses in Puri Jagannath Temple, have posed threat for the safety & security of the 12th-Century shrine,a robust security roadmap is recently sketched to address the concern.

In a first, a Security Sub-Committee has been constituted whereas former bureaucrat Girish Chandra Murmu is assigned to head the tough task.

Murmu while chairing the first meeting of the Security Sub-Committee on Tuesday said, the enhanced security system will look after the physical lapses, observed by the security personnel and ensure fullproof security of the shrine with the help of digital surveillance system.

The newly devised roadmap will help address both physical and digital security concerns of the shrine, said Murmu while he was discussing with Puri District Administration and Police.

Worth mentioning, Murmu, a veteran bureaucrat who hails from Mayurbhanj has meticulously served as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India.

Murmu’s expertise & guidance to the Security Sub-Committee of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, will help the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in reviewing and recommending essential improvisation of the security system, presently adopted.
