Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: A 55-year-old man lost Rs 14.40 lakh in a sextortion scam after having live nude chat and video call with a woman.
The victim, Sailendra Sahu (name changed) a resident of Nuasahi area in Nayapalli in the city has filed a complaint at cyber police station in this regard.
According to reports, the elderly man received a friend request from a woman on October 6 night while he was surfing his Facebook account. He accepted her friend request checking the profile.
Later, the woman started chatting with him on Facebook messenger and asked for his number.
The next day the woman started nude chatting with him and sent some photo and videos. The victim lost control on him and indulged himself in nude chatting and video call.
The woman had taken some screen shot of his nude video call. On October 9, Sailendra was told by a person identifying as IPS officer of Delhi Cyber Cell, Ram Pande that the woman has filed a rape case against him and submitted some photos and videos.
Sailendra also received some nude photos and videos of him sent from another number. When the victim checked on Google he found that there was an IPS officer named Ram Pande in Delhi.
Having no option left, he contacted with the so called IPS officer who asked to deposit Rs 23,000 and GST per photo to get rid of the case and Rs 71,000 and GST for deleting all photos and videos.
In this way the man blackmailed him and took Rs 14.44 lakh. When Sailendra was further asked to send another Rs 5 lakh to settle the case, he smelled foul play and approached the cyber police.
