Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: Five more people of Odisha tested positive for Covid-19, raising the total number of cases in the state to 13 on Friday, officials said.
The state is yet to reveal details of the fresh patients.
The first COVID-19 patient in Odisha this season was identified on Dec 23.
All the patients are in home isolation and suffering from mild symptoms of JN.1, a sub-variant of Omicron. However, the Odisha Health and Welfare Department has advised people, especially the elderly and those with comorbidities, to take precautions like wearing masks and avoiding visiting crowded places.
People with fever and symptoms like cold, cough, and aches have been advised to undergo tests and take prescribed medicines.
Meanwhile, 4,091 new active COVID cases were identified in India during the last 24 hours. At the same time, five patients succumbed to the viral infection across the country since Thursday. The deaths were reported from Kerala (2), Maharashtra (1), Puducherry (1), and Tamil Nadu (1).
