New Delhi, December 2: The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) will be renamed Seva Teerth, a move in line with the government's commitment to citizen-first governance.

The name Seva Teerth reflects a workplace imbued with the spirit of service, where national priorities are set and shaped. The new complex, nearing completion, was previously known as the Executive Enclave under the Central Vista Redevelopment project.

Alongside the PMO, the Executive Enclave will house key offices including the Cabinet Secretariat, the National Security Council Secretariat, and India House, which will serve as a venue for high-level discussions with visiting dignitaries.

Sources shared that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, government spaces have been reimagined to embody the values of kartavya (duty) and transparency. They added that every name, building, and symbol now sends a unified message: the government exists to serve the people.

In a similar vein, the official residences of Governors, known as Raj Bhavans, are being renamed toLok Bhavan, aligning with the government's focus on public service. In 2016, the Prime Minister's official residence was also renamedLok Kalyan Marg, a title reflecting welfare and inclusivity, rather than exclusivity.

Additionally, the Central Secretariat has been rechristened Kartavya Bhavan, symbolizing a vast administrative hub dedicated to public service as a commitment. Rajpath, the iconic avenue, was similarly renamed Kartavya Path, reinforcing the notion that power is a responsibility, not a privilege.

The overarching message, according to sources, is that Indian democracy is shifting from power to responsibility, from status to service. This change in names represents a broader transformation in mindset, emphasizing seva, kartavya, and citizen-first governance.
