Lanjigarh, Sept 17: In a significant step towards inclusive education, 36 tribal children from the remote village of Karkamska under Bandhapari Panchayat in Lanjigarh block, Kalahandi district, have been enrolled in school after being previously deprived of access due to the lack of educational facilities in their village.

Following reports of the issue, the Lanjigarh Block Education Department acted swiftly to include these children in the mainstream education system under the state government’s “Aas School Jiba” (Let’s Go to School) campaign. Of the 36 children, 30 have been admitted to Balisara Primary School, while plans are underway to enroll the remaining 6 at Bandhapari Upper Primary School.

This initiative was made possible through the coordinated efforts of Additional District Education Officer Hemasagar Mahananda, Cluster Education Officer Rishia Meher, Additional Cluster Education Officer Bharat Bhujshana Sahu, Panchasakha Education Setu Coordinator Prashant Kumar Nanda, Sadhan Kendra Coordinator Manoj Kumar Sahu, and education volunteers including Gunamani Bhoi, Binod Maharana, and social worker Gouranga Majhi.

The team conducted door-to-door visits, engaging with parents to raise awareness about the importance of education. Their efforts led to the successful re-enrollment of all 36 children, bringing a wave of hope and renewed enthusiasm to the village.

Local officials say this initiative marks a crucial step in ensuring that no child is left behind, especially in remote tribal areas.
