Forty-seven coal rakes unloaded in historic single day operation

The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has once again demonstrated its logistical might. On February 14, 2026, the port set a new benchmark in maritime operations by achieving its highest-ever single-day thermal coal unloading figures. This feat underscores the port's growing efficiency and its pivotal role in the eastern maritime region.

Moving cargo at lightning speed, the PPA team successfully handled a total of 47 rakes within a 24-hour window. The breakdown of this massive operation included 41 BOBRN (Bogie Open Bottom Rapid Discharge) rakes, which are designed for quick unloading, and 6 BOXN (Bogie Open High Sided) rakes.

PPA Chairman Shri P.L. Haranadh was quick to acknowledge the hard work behind the numbers. He congratulated "Team PPA" for their unwavering dedication and operational discipline. According to the Chairman, breaking a Paradip Port record is not just about statistics; it reflects meticulous planning and the robust infrastructure developed over recent years.

This achievement is significant for the broader power sector. By reducing turnaround times and streamlining how thermal coal is handled, PPA is strengthening its position as a key hub in India's energy supply chain. The seamless movement of coal is essential for power generation, making this record a win for both the port and the nation's energy security.
