Bhubaneswar, Aug 12: As many as 31,464 dengue cases were reported in the country by July 31 this year including 875 cases from Odisha.
While the highest 4805 cases were detected in Karnataka, 3309 cases were reported in Tamil Nadu followed by 3164 in Maharashtra, 2718 in Andhra Pradesh, 1756 in Assam, 1030 in Rajasthan, 961 in Telangana, 926 in Puducherry, 921 in Delhi, 876 in Gujarat, 463 in Punjab, 439 in Madhya Pradesh.
Odisha was in 13th place with the detection of the highest number of 951 cases in the Khordha district. Similarly, at least 138 cases were reported from Balasore, 108 cases from Puri, and 85 cases from Cuttack while dengue cases were less than 50 in other districts of the state.

Out of 951 cases in Khordha district, Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, has suffered the worst.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to spray chemicals using drones to deal with the mosquito menace.
The drones will be deployed in inaccessible locations like abandoned plots, narrow lanes, slums, and household surroundings.
Besides, the BMC has warned to impose penalties on households, offices, and commercial establishments if potential sources of dengue mosquito breeding or larvae are found on their premises.
