Cuttack, July 10: As many as 474 teachers were found to have submitted fake educational certificates at the time of joining and 300 teachers have been dismissed from service so far after scrutiny. The Odisha government informed the Orissa High Court in its affidavit on Tuesday.
The affidavit also apprised the High Court that no fake enrolment of students were found in any school of the state for mid-day meal.
Hearing the petition filed by Sanjay Kumar Maharana, the division bench of Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh and Justice Savitri Ratho posted the case for July 16.
The petitioner in 2018 had alleged that hundreds of teachers have got job in Odisha schools by furnishing fake educational certificates and fake student enrolments are being made to loot mid-day meal money.
The Orissa High Court had sought report from the state government hearing the case.
The Odisha government had informed the court that several teachers were dismissed from service and criminal cases were registered against many teachers. During the last hearing, the court had directed the director of elementary education, Odisha to submit report on the present situation and action taken against the identified fake teachers.
