Berhampur, Nov 20: A deep wave of sorrow has swept through Atarang village in the Aska block of Ganjam district after the sudden death of a man while performing the tenth-day death rituals for his father.

The double tragedy has left the family shattered, plunging them into overwhelming grief, with the entire village sharing in their mourning.

On Nov 11, Udaya Gouda, a 50-year-old resident of Atarang, passed away, leaving behind his wife, a son, and a daughter. The family was still coping with the loss of Udaya when tragedy struck again. Rajendra Goud, the 30-year-old son of Udaya, was performing the ritual for his late father when he suddenly fell ill and collapsed. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Rajendra was declared dead.

The village is now faced with the difficult question of how to carry out the funeral rites for both father and son, as the family has no one left to perform the sacred ceremonies.

Rajendra, who was the primary breadwinner for the family, leaves behind his wife and three young children, further adding to the family's heartache.

In light of the family's devastating loss, villagers have called on the district administration for immediate assistance, as the family struggles to cope with the sudden and tragic turn of events.
