Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: Three melanistic tiger cubs have been spotted with their mother in Similipal Tiger Reserve of Odisha.
"Nature never fails to surprise us. This is one of the rarest of the rare… A complete Pseudo melanistic tiger family from the forests of Odisha," State chief wildlife warden Susanta Nanda wrote on hix X handle posting the rare video.
Nanda did not mention the habitat of the tiger family though Similipal is the only habitat of melanistic tigers.
According to 2022 tiger census, there are only 10 black tigers in the country and only in Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha.
Notably, the tiger census report conducted by state forest department will be released on January 15. It will reveal details of tigers present in various forests of Odisha.
