Bilaspur, October 4: At least six people were killed and several others injured after a passenger train collided with a freight train near Jairamnagar station in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district on Tuesday, triggering panic among passengers.

Rescue operations are currently underway, with railway officials and emergency teams deployed to the accident site. Authorities are working to extract passengers trapped in the wreckage and provide medical assistance to the injured.

According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred between a local passenger train traveling from Korba to Bilaspur and a goods train stationed on the same track.

Videos from the scene showed the first coach of the Korba passenger train mounted on the goods train due to the impact of the crash. Large crowds gathered near the site as officials carried out rescue and relief operations.
