Udala Family in Shock as Matriarch Elopes Weeks Before Daughter's Wedding

Preparations for a joyous December wedding in Mayurbhanj district have turned into a public scandal. A prominent family in Udala is currently reeling from shock after the bride-to-be’s mother abandoned her home to elope with a younger partner. The incident has cast a shadow over the upcoming nuptials and left the local community in disbelief.

The 51-year-old woman is the wife of a well-established jewelry businessman in the city. The couple had been married for three decades, a union that began as a love marriage. Over the years, the husband frequently gifted his wife expensive gold ornaments. Reports indicate that upon leaving, she took approximately 600 grams of this jewelry with her. The estimated value of the stolen gold exceeds 60 lakh rupees.

Sources suggest her new partner is a 38-year-old man with a questionable reputation. He is allegedly known in the area for antisocial behavior and substance abuse issues. Despite the reputational damage and the wealthy status of her husband, the woman chose to leave her family behind for this relationship.

Desperate to save the family’s honour before the wedding, the husband approached the police for assistance. Authorities managed to bring the woman to the police station for mediation. Both her husband and her daughter pleaded with her to return home. However, she firmly rejected their requests and refused to reconcile.

The situation has created immense distress for the businessman and his children. The daughter’s wedding plans now face uncertainty due to the mother's absence. Meanwhile, images of the runaway couple are circulating on social media, adding to the family's embarrassment.
