Sonepur,Feb 25: In an unprecedented catch, foreign currencies worth Rs 2.69 lakh were seized from an Odisha Railway station on Wednesday.

The amount was recovered from an abandoned bag left at the Dunguripali Railway station by a suspicious youth.

According to sources, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) official enquired a young man, at the Dunguripali station suspecting him to hide something wrong. The youth, however replied that he is was waiting for Puri–Durg train to travel to Jhansi. Fearing police, the youth fled the schen, leaving the bag there.

On being informed, the Balangir RPF unit and the Dunguripali station master searched the abandoned bag and recovered 19 foreign currencies including notes of UAE, Malaysia, China & Thailand.

Subsequently, the forex was seized and an investigation was initiated in this connection.However,no clues regarding the escaped youth were found by the sleuths, despite extensive intelligence to spot him.
